THE OSCARS 2012 | THE DEJA MUSINGS

Hollywood’s Biggest Night THE OSCARS 2012 had some really amazing moments. The Classic Awards Show televised on ABC  had millions of viewers tuned in to see if their favorite was going to win a coveted award. Opinions are many but the winners are now etched in history, taking their place among other great recipients of Oscar.  Hosting  The Oscars for the evening, a veteran host Billy Crystal.  While many say it is easier said than done with hosting, that is a tough room.  It is not tough like steel but tough enough that timing should be everything. Industry to industry humor should be felt along with not losing the viewing audience at home.  When I say tough room I mean both- at the awards show and the viewing audience around the world.

Billy Crystal did a good job in my opinion. Kudos.

Winner Picks! Don’t we all have them? Of course we do, those who love Oscar! I did very well for my picks for winners.  Congrats to everyone nominated and those who took home Oscar.  Social media  was very colorful with varied opinions about who should have won for a certain category.  Passionate with idealist logic came out of the mouths of social media babes, my pun on the classic line ‘out of the mouth of babes’ ( didn’t want to lose anyone ). Other logic just went straight outta the window, over my head, through the woods, even to grandma’s house the crazy logic could not go.  The great thing about opinions it makes for great conversation – the agree to disagree factor.  Facts and reality is where it’s at. Gracious was the winners, many softening the blow to hopefuls.

Congrats To Meryl Streep for the win Best Actress #oscars

Viola Davis is a woman who many took notice of in THE HELP but she’s been incredible before then #fact #oscars

Viola Davis is on the hailed path for a future Oscar and it will be with a role that will be epic without the stereotypical value. #oscars

Pretty much a win would have been so great for Davis but the naysayers would have tried to pick her a part for the character instead of hailing her for the character she portrayed.  I feel strongly she will get an Oscar one day. Look at Davis works before THE HELP, she’s just brilliant. Tonight, she was full of grace a true winner and professional.

The tribute to those a part of The Motion Picture family that have transitioned from earthly life was beautiful.  The Oscars Producers stayed true to the classic elegance this show, this moment has always been about with the added touch of the ever present contemporary feel.  Esperanza Spalding did a great job with the classic song “It’s A Wonderful World.”  As with any award shows there may be some moments that could have been more smooth sailing.  While it is a nice idea for smooth sailing moments it is not always the reality.  Though many have opinions about The Oscars, I can say I love the way they keep the classic feel as it should be. Bravo!

Red Carpet Looks see ‘The Envelope’ LOS ANGELES TIMES

One should be inspired by tonight, especially if this is the goal to one day be nominated for your works, to be a part of the whole scheme of The Motion Picture Family.  Brilliant night indeed.  May more films grace us the ‘movie goer’ to giving us  a wide range of emotions.  These very emotions are something we all need to keep us grounded yet in awe, yet inspired to dream a little dream.  To think outside of the box writing screenplays that will one day capture the big screen is always a continued hope.   To write that amazing novel, shop it and have your story told by a brilliant Producer, Director, Stage Professionals, Actors, Movie Music Score professionals and more is never an impossibility if you believe in yourself and your work.  To dare not to be inspired with the follow through is the tragedy but to dare to is the victory.

As movie-goers the journey where films take us is amazing.  It is the little escape from the world that can sometimes overwhelm us. Definitely this is a night I am always inspired by. I am remembering times in my life, the wide-eyed girl who knew that films were important in shaping parts of my life. That one day my imagination would find itself on some world stage and possibly more.  There are many stories yet to be told, interpreted and this makes the wonderful journey films takes us so much more fulfilling.

Without lingering I shall take off my reader’s, step away from the keyboard, enjoy my birthday whom I share with one of my favorite actresses Elizabeth Taylor, watch The Graduate playing on TCM, prepare to have a nice dinner party with close luvs by evening, then continue my night with an impressive lineup that I will DVR on TCM’s film list for my birthday. Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolfe is most definitely set for evening along with To Catch A Thief, both in my collection. Sometimes after your day is done, you just want to power on the tv and hit play without going into your collection.  Now for the ALL ABOUT ME, the birthday girl bids you all adieu.

Congrats again to all winners!

NFL COMBINE TALK 2012 WITH FIERY EARTHCHILD

The NFL Scouting Combine is formally known the National Invitational Camp. The week long showcase is held in Indianapolis at  Lucas Oil Stadium during the month of February. It is oh so exciting to see the college players showcase their endurance levels through physical and mental evaluations. All eyes are on them as NFL coaches, general managers and scouts look on.  Not only are they looking on but you have some players taking notice along with the sport’s analyst such as myself.  The media would be there to take it all in and speak upon the standings. Many standings were not shocking.  This Fiery Earthchild speaks on all things NFL Scouting Combine.

  • Schedule For NFL Combine February 22-28
  • Invitation Only for athletes trust me those who beast are there
  • Brilliant way to look at NFL prospects
  • NIC started in my city of  Tampa Florida 1982
  • NIC renamed in 1985 to NFL Scouting Combine

Some of the evaluations College Players are viewed on:

  • 40 yard dash
  • 20 yard shuttle
  • Injury evaluation
  • Drug Screening
  • Bench press
  • Wonderlic Test more

Standouts

  • Andrew Luck
  • Robert Griffin III
  • Travis Benjamin
  • Chris Owusu
  • Stephen Hill
  • Lamar Miller
  • LaMichael James
  • AJ Jenkins
  • Devon Wylie
  • Chris Rainey
  • Isiah Pead
  • Russell Wilson

Congrats to Andrew Luck the uncontested by many No.1 draft pick was looking pretty spectacular in the different evaluations. Robert Griffin III placed 1st in the 40 yard dash for Quarterbacks at 4.38 seconds.  Griffin didn’t participate in all activities but definitely for those he did, well done RG3.  While many analyst want to do the comparisons of Griffin and Newton, I won’t participate.  I won’t participate in the comparisons from the who is better because each of these young men bring their own athleticism and eloquence with their performances. Comparisons on statistics will have to wait because one has crossed the threshold of going Pro with first year statistics in the books and the other has yet to prove himself.  Therefore I will not participate on that level of comparisons of who is better because it does not exist at this time and rookie season comparisons bore me right now ( did that ). Let this moment for RG3 be his then go on from there.

RELEVANCY

Everyone has their opinions about the significance of NFL COMBINE. I do feel it has relevancy even if some NFL coaches/players, analyst, feel uninspired, the some is not all.  I think it is great for morale,  it is great for the interaction factor. Most of these young men will play each other when drafted so the interaction, the ‘crossing the burning sands’ I feel is important.  Anything that propels the competitive nature, along with sportsmanship I am all for that.
