Dame Elizabeth Taylor 1932-2011
We share the same birth date February 27, that quintessential piscean woman. Indeed Taylor was one of very few last remaining stars of such a beautiful era in Hollywood. Much has been said about Dame Elizabeth since her passing from this life. One thing is for certain as much as her life played out in public consumption, as a true piscean woman, she carried with her intimate and intricate parts of herself none will ever know.
Those who know me… this loss I took pretty hard. Definitely a fan from the filmography, biography standpoint. There is a fiction series by author Beatrice Small the ‘Skye O’Malley‘ series that I own. Every year I find time to get lost in the pages. I’ve been a ‘Skye O’Malley’ fan since my teen years. Skye is the heroine of the series raven hair, kerry blue eyes that spellbound those who encountered her. Skye was ever resilient. She encountered adventure, romance, passion, heartbreak. Sky had a fiery persona, compassionate at times, a worthy adversary, completely misunderstood, completely adored, going into battle with wreckless abandon, going into battle with a sure fire plan, protector of her children, an abundance of lovers, husbands, children, grand-children and more.
Sounds familiar to the true to life moments we got to know of Taylor…
I often would read the adventures of Skye O’Malley. The thought would cross my mind of Elizabeth Taylor and some parts of the read reminded me of myself – my adventures throughout my forty years. The very last moment of Skye’s life she went into the sunset greeted by all of her husbands who looked so young to an aged Skye O’Malley. Into that sunset there was no more pain, no woman of old age but the beauty of a young Skye O’Malley leaving behind the present world for the next.
I’d like to think, Elizabeth Taylor was greeted in such a similar way for the next part of her journey… a journey all of must take. The beauty of it all is to be ready, at peace, no regrets, having a bit of awe and nervous excitement for what is ahead. Yeah… I am in the zone.
Join me and countless others who will be tuned in Sunday April 10 to TCM for a Elizabeth Taylor Movie Tribute. Now I so thought they would do ‘Cleopatra’ and ‘Suddenly Last Summer’ but I can view those from my collection *smirk*. Fans I am sure had their moment of a film they felt should have been placed in the lineup that wasn’t there but overall, kudos TCM.
Attire for Sunday April 10*
I am such a ‘lady’… I will be lounging all day I tell ya… ALL DAY! I plan to lounge in style. I have several collections of the floor length silk white robes with the lace and sparkly detail along with the flowing gown and my white satin ballerina slippers. Yes I am going there widly with wreckless abandon OLD HOLLYWOOD STYLE. It would be so cool if TCM had a live feed of how people will be experiencing the tribute to Elizabeth Taylor.

I think every woman should sleep divine like this if not every night then on some nights be it with someone or alone. It is a luxurious sleep, feeling so good as you move beneath the covers. Both of the links provided above have some awesome vintage pieces. Make sure you visit. I plan to keep collecting and wearing. Oh yea, don’t forget to get the lounging footwear. From heels to flats or somewhere in between, you are going to look and feel FAB-O!
By the time Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Wolf comes on… I shall be raising third or fourth glasses of Vanderbilts and Singapore Slings. Finger food will be in session and I will be in the ZONE of ZEN the entire day along with others enjoying the tribute. For a full listing of the Elizabeth Taylor tribute here is the lineup TCM . Truly we’ve witness being among a Living Legend of Hollywood Actresses, Humanitarian Elizabeth Taylor. Forever Elizabeth.
