Bebetz Movie Talk: The Karate Kid 2010

Actor Jaden Smith will star in the remake of Karate Kid

Like many other’s I grew up with that movie and I would be a LIAR if I did not cringe when I first received the Press Release for the upcoming movie also starring Taraji P Henson and Jackie Chan.  I was very gaurded about the roles played very well by Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita, and Elisabeth Shu

Sure we’d like to think as critics/fans our opinions really matter once a project is greenlighted but yes some false entitlement was there to just object in my mind about The Karate Kid Remake.  Then I began to think about the movie as a whole.  This movie was an inspiration for young people. We need that today for the young people.  With a talented cast, I am hoping this movie will inspire and uplift a new generation.

UPDATED: June 2010 After Movie Premiere

The movie receives a strong 4 out of 5 stars from me.

( I am not a gal to do the point fives laughing )

Definitely enjoy the movie, a remake to be proud of.

Showing the box-office moves of Will Smith, the 11-year-old kicked a disappointing summer back into gear with a fantastic $56 million Friday-Sunday debut for The Karate Kid.

  2. Movie-site is sometime spoiler, why they said that this remake of Karate Kid is bad when compare to the original version 1984. I don’t see any reason to say that, ..this is the Best Karate Kid movie could be… its not because Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith work in this film, overall the cast is great, so don’t be hesitate to Watch Karate Kid 2010, I think its better than old movies.
